O is for Ocean

This past week we traveled to the Outer Banks, NC for our first beach vacation since Ryan's birth.  We were really unsure of how Ryan would react to the beach so we went with no expectations.  Ryan really seemed to love playing in the sand.  He tried to eat it a few times but eventually decided that it didn't taste too great.  Ryan LOVED seashells.  He was so happy any time that we found a nice big shell for him to tote around.  We even came back with a few souvenir shells.  Ryan was a little unsure of the water (maybe because it was very cold).  He would not let go of us at all when we were around the waves but to his credit the waves were very big.  Ryan also didn't care much for walking in the sand.  He preferred to be carried around which turned out to be quite a nice workout for Jeff and I.  We know that Ryan will love the ocean as he gets a little older and in a few years we won't be able to keep him away.

Feeling the sand in his hands...

Face plant in the sand  --- not sure of the taste...

Getting ready for the first wave....
