Snow!

It is official, today was the first day it really snowed since Ryan was born.  Yes we have gotten a couple of light dustings in the past couple of weeks but nothing that actually stuck to the ground.  This morning and early afternoon the snow was coming down.  We got around 2 inches here at the house and it just started snowing again.  They say the accumulation will increase overnight.

Anyway Ryan seemed to enjoy getting outside and playing in the white stuff.  He was very interested in figuring it out.  For once he did not want to stand up.  Instead he wanted to get down on the ground and inspect the cold, fluffy stuff covering the ground.

This snow stuff is pretty cool...

Laughing while Daddy threw snow balls at Mommy....

Hopefully tomorrow the grass will be totally covered and we can let Ryan play in the snow again before it melts away...

Listen carefully as Ryan says "Buuuurrrr".  And yes...we live on a hill so next year if we get snow we can do a little sledding in the back yard!!

Dear God

I received this e-mail this morning and I felt it necessary to share on the blog.  There is nothing that compares to the innocence of a child.  I hope you enjoy.

Diaper Derby

Yesterday was the highly anticipated Diaper Derby.  Basically it is a race for crawling babies.  One parent is at one end of the mat trying to get the baby to crawl as fast as they can to the other side.  Anyway, we figured that our son who is always on the move would do great at such an event.  Wrong.  The derby was held at a local mall and between the DJ announcer, the 250 babies and parents standing nearby and all of the on-lookers it was VERY loud.  Ryan was much more fascinated with looking around than he was with crawling to me.  It seems that many of the other babies in his heat race felt the same way.  By the way...the little girl right next to Ryan won the race. :)

Enjoying a little pre-game snack...

Go number 18!!!!

We found these people who had come out to support Ryan...LOL...strangely enough they were standing right next to us.

Ryan seemed more interested in the banner than anything else...

Tired baby after the big race...

Please excuse the volume...it was VERY loud and of course I was trying to yell to get Ryan's attention but I still don't think he could hear me.

Feeding time fun...

Sorry for the lack in blogging.  We have all been sick this week.  It has not been fun.  Everyone seems to be feeling better now though.

Ryan has started to become quite a clown when it is feeding time.  He plays with his food, throws his sippy cup on the floor, plays peek-a-boo, you name it and he tries it.

Eating Cheerios is serious business

You can't see me Mommy

10 Months

Ryan is 10 months old today!  These have been the most wonderful 10 months of my life.  There have been so many smiles, laughs, giggles, new discoveries, tears (both happy and sad ones) and memories made.

Ryan is constantly learning new things.  He now prefers to feed himself and while he will still eat baby food, he has much more fun doing it all by himself.  There is not much that Ryan won't eat.  He is getting more confident on his feet and will take steps holding on with just one hand.  Paul and I thought we witnessed his first step the other night.  It was just one step and has not been attempted since.  Ryan is fascinated with opening and closing things, loves to play with the toilet paper roll and is constantly intrigued by things he should not play with.  He prefers to fall asleep on his own now and not get rocked to sleep (which makes me a little sad).  He has learned to wave, give high fives and Jeff is trying to teach him how to "rock on".

I can't believe 10 months have gone by so quickly.  I try to take a moment each day to just slow down and enjoy it because it really goes by in the blink of an eye.

Future Gamer

Jeff and I are way behind the times and just now got Guitar Hero (thanks to Jeff's Mom).  Anyhow Ryan loves the game too.  Well, sort of.  He likes to chew on the box.  Then again, he chews on anything.

Daddy, I will show you how to play....

See --- this is how it is done.

Pictures

Here are a few more pictures of our visit with Paul & Penni.  We had lots of fun and can't wait for them to come back soon for another visit.

Getting everyone to look at the camera = impossible.

Ryan the Builder

The other day I bought another storage container for Ryan's ever-growing toy collection.  Ryan decided it would be tons of fun to try and help me assemble his storage bins.  The play room is now more organized although I am sure that we will need even more storage as his toy collection is likely to continue to grow.

Mommy here are the directions...

Step one, taste the paper..

Ok Mommy you need this one next...

You have entered a hard hat zone...

Box Car

We found a box the perfect size for Ryan to play in. He loves to push the box around and ride in it like a car. Ryan giggles hysterically the entire time he is driving his car.

Let's get this baby going...

Yummy...this car is good!

Peek-a-Boo!

The other night after bath time I heard Ryan and Jeff having tons of fun in Ryan's room.  I could hear that they were playing peek-a-boo and I could hear lots of laughter.  I ran into the room to see what was going on and realized that I needed my camera.  Of course I wasn't exactly sure where I last had my camera.  A couple of minutes later I located the camera and sprinted back up the stairs.  Luckily, Ryan and Jeff were still playing their game.  Ryan was almost over it when I walked in with the camera but thankfully he played just a minute more.

Enjoy Ryan as he plays peek-a-boo with us!

Happy New Year!

Nothing new to blog about really....but I do have lots of cute pictures of Ryan!   Everyone is finally feeling better and hopefully we can stay that way!  We are really excited about Jeff's parents coming to visit.  They will be here next Tuesday.  Ryan can't wait to show them all of his fun toys and gets lots of cuddles.  Aunt Jenn and Uncle Alex will also be visiting us in the near future.  Jeff and I are looking forward to sharing lots of time with his family!! :)
