Blog-worthy Conversation

A few nights ago the Mr. and I were having a conversation about things for the house.  Here is the story...

Mr:  "Costco is having a sale on gun safes.  They are shipping it for free, it is $300 or $400 (I don't remember the specific amount, it is not important).
Me:  "ummm...why do we need a gun safe?"
Mr:   "For the guns we are going to buy."
Me:  "We are buying guns?  I am not sure how I feel about that."
Mr:  "Well we need to be safe, have protection just in case............
Me:  "Wait a minute, does this have anything to do with us having a baby girl?"
Mr:   "No comment"

It is funny to see how he is already acting differently and seems to be a wee bit protective over his baby girl already.

Let's Go Ride a Bike!

I think it is time for a second bike.  Little brother loves his big brother's tricycle.  He is trying to figure out exactly how to pedal it and from the moment he spots the bike, he does not want to get off.  We have had a  couple of complete and utter meltdowns in the street when having to share the bike.  I am sure the neighbors get a kick out of watching me try to work that one out (especially at 8 months pregnant).

good luck getting him to look up for a photo - he is FOCUSED

meltdown begins

distraction time --- let's play CHASE!!!

he is getting too big!

4th of July

We had the most wonderful 4th of July.  One of the things that I love about living in this area is that the 4th of July is a major event.  There are all kinds of festivals and celebrations the entire weekend.  It is a little known fact that July 4th is one of my absolute favorite holidays of the entire year.  I love the gathering of friends and family, summer weather, cook-outs, fireworks, celebrations and well just about everything about the holiday!!!

One thing that I was slightly unsure of this year was the fireworks.  In October of last year we made a trip to Disney.  To say that the fireworks shows were traumatic for Big Brother would be a huge understatement.  Anytime he talked about fireworks from then on he made sure to say that they were scary.  The Mr. and I decided to get him to try some noise blocking earphones to see if that helped.  My son went from hiding in the house or behind a tree when the fireworks came on to begging for more (every single night).  If your child seems timid or scared of the fireworks, try out some earphones!  The Mr. bought the ones in the tool department of Home Depot, the best $18 we could have spent!

Little Brother loved the fireworks

DC Trip

While Nana was here visiting us we decided to load up and take the boys to DC.  We don't go there very regularly.  Actually, I think the last time we went I was pregnant with Little Brother.  We took the boys to a couple of museums and they really enjoyed them both.  I am hoping that we will make plans to go again soon.  There are so many wonderful things there to teach and show the kids.

Museum of Natural History - had to bring Monkey!

taking a ride to the next museum with Nana.  He loved it!

4th of July Parade

Every year a nearby town hosts a 4th of July parade.  We really enjoy going and celebrating!  We randomly picked the best seat possible.  It was a very muggy morning and we found a front porch step to sit on.  About 5 minutes before the parade started someone opened the door and we were blessed with a very nice cool breeze from the a/c! :)

The boys had a great time at the parade.  When it was over they ran all around the outside of the county courthouse and had a lollipop.

about to get fed a fish, a nice soggy and wet one.

again you take what you can get when it comes to family photos.
