Look-a-likes!

Everyone keeps telling me the boys look like twins (seriously I get asked if they are at least 1 time per week). I think they are kind of right, these boys are looking more and more alike! So CUTE!!!

Big Boy Bed!

This past weekend we spent some time working on Ryan's big boy room and moving him to a big boy bed! I was hoping to keep him in the crib as long as possible, especially since he is such a good sleeper and didn't mind being in the crib. But he was getting a little too daring and was going to get hurt trying to scale the crib so it was time to move on. I am really pleased with how Ryan's big boy room is coming along. We need to do some more painting --- we tried to touch up a few spots and the paint was not the exact same color. :( And I need to get something on the wall alongside his bed. He was running around like crazy today with excitement.

We kept telling Ryan that he was going to be in a Big Boy Bed and he has termed his bed "My boy bed". It is cute to hear him say that over and over. :)

23 Months

This is the last month that I can say Ryan's age in months. After this month he will be either 2 or 2 1/2. Some days I look at him and see how much he has changed recently and I just cannot believe it. Ryan is such a little chatterbox now. He talks all day long. Most of the time he gives us the play by play on what he is doing. Other times he just keeps repeating something over and over and over until we do something about it. He loves to let us know when he has spilled or broken a toy by saying "Mommy broken. Fix it." He loves to be a helper any time he can. He carries the list for us at the grocery store, pushes a chair around the kitchen so he can help out with cooking or doing the dishes, assists with laundry, wiping up messes and with lots of encouragement picks up his toys.

Ryan is really starting to notice Owen and interact with him. Ryan will get down on the floor with Owen and say things to him like "goo, goo, goo" to try and get Owen to smile. Ryan also loves for us to put Owen in the exersaucer so he can show Owen what to do.

Ryan still loves to read. His current favorites are his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse books, Good Night Moon (he has us read that one again and again at night) and Peek a Who?.

Ryan is such a wonderful blessing. He is such a sweet little boy and I am thankful to be his Mommy.

Ryan knows were we keep all of the Wii controls. He constantly pulls them out and asks us to play "cars, race". We have played the racing game exactly one time with him and he has not forgotten!

Three Months

Dear Owen,

I can't believe that three months have gone by already. It seems like you have been a part of our family for so long, yet it seems like the time has gone by so fast at the same time. You are getting to be so big. I spend so much time cuddling with you because I know that all too soon you will be constantly on the go and not wanting to be held by Mommy or Daddy.

Your Daddy and I are pretty sure that you have started to laugh. It's not a deep belly laugh yet but you do let out a chuckle here and there when you smile. You love your brother Ryan. This past week you and Ryan played peek-a-boo and you thought it was so much fun as did he.

You are still sleeping in Mommy and Daddy's room because Mommy is just not ready for you to be so big yet and move into your own room. You usually wake up only one time around 4:30 to eat and then go back to sleep for a few more hours. Last night was your first night to go to sleep without your swaddle blanket (as you learned to be an escape artist) and you slept just fine all night long. You are getting very strong and are able to hold your head up quite well. You act like you really want to roll over when you are doing your tummy time. I am sure it won't be too much longer.

You have almost outgrown your size 2 diapers and your 6 month clothes already. I hope that you slow down a little bit because at this rate you and Ryan will be sharing clothes before your first birthday.

Big Boy!

Today was Owen's 2 month appointment. I should say for the record that he is closer to 3 months than 2 months so the stats are a little bit inaccurate. That said he is a big boy, much bigger than Ryan was. Owen weighed in at a whopping 15lbs 3oz. I did not believe the nurse so we picked him up and measured him again. He is a whopping 24.5 inches!!! Owen is in the +97 percentile for weight and height. If you adjust it for a 3 month old though he is around the 75th percentile for both.

For comparison Ryan was 12lbs 12oz and 23.5in at his 2 month appointment. WOW!

My what a difference 2 years makes...

Owen is 8 weeks old!

Today is Owen's 8 week birthday. I cannot believe he will be two whole months old in just a matter of days. He is growing so very fast!!! Enjoy Owen's first video on the blog!!!!!

21 Months

Happy 21-month birthday, Ryan!!!

In the past month you have become such a busy little boy that you refuse to sit still and have a picture taken. You are constantly on the go and exploring. In fact, when Mommy pulls out the camera you typically try to either put the lens cap back on the camera or try to run around behind the camera to see Ryan or the "baby".

You are such a smart little boy. You are using more phrases every day. You like to pretend different objects are phones. You put the phone to your ear and say the following, "Hello, hello, who is it, where are you, bye." You know how to count to three and know when to throw in a few other numbers like five, eight and nine. You know so many letters, know most shapes and colors too (although you confuse blue and purple). I have never heard a toddler say "yellow" as clearly as you are able to say it. Every morning after breakfast you like to get out your little broom and help me sweep the floors. You are such a wonderful little helper.

For some reason you seem to enjoy time out or "mime out". When it is time for "mime out" you run to the spot and sit happily for your one minute. Then you get very excited to give us a big hug and kiss when time out is over.

This past month you also made mommy's face turn red at Target. We were shopping and I let you hold on to the bag of goldfish. You started yelling out your word for fish which happens to be a four letter word starting with s. You were so excited about your fish and letting everyone around us know your excitement as well.

My favorite thing from this month has been seeing how sweet you truly are. You love to give Mommy hugs and kisses. Every time you give me hugs you say "awww sweet" in the most precious little voice. You bring tears to my eyes when you give Daddy, Owen and your toys hugs.

Oh and your hair is getting very long. I think it is time for a trim!!!
